Fetal Growth Assessment
A fetal growth scan measures your baby's size and estimates their weight by measuring specific fetal dimensions — the head circumference, abdominal circumference, and femur (thigh bone) length. These measurements are plotted on a growth chart to assess whether your baby is growing within the expected range for their gestational age.
Growth scans are particularly important for women with risk factors for fetal growth restriction (FGR), or when there is a clinical concern about the size of the baby. They may also be recommended as part of routine monitoring in the final weeks of pregnancy.
