Following your scan, Dr. Stavrou will discuss your results with you directly. If any follow-up is required — whether additional monitoring, a referral, or liaison with your Gynaecologist — she will coordinate this personally.

No referral is required to book most appointments. Patients travel to our Nicosia clinic from Nicosia, Larnaca, and Ammochostos.

Frequently Asked Questions about our Services 

  • The type of scan you need depends on your stage of pregnancy and any specific concerns you or your Gynaecologist may have. As a general guide: viability and NT scans are carried out in the first trimester (weeks 6–13), the anatomy scan is performed in the second trimester (weeks 18–22), and growth and wellbeing scans are carried out in the third trimester (weeks 24 onwards). If you are unsure, contact us and Dr. Stavrou's team will advise you. 

  • No referral is required to book most scans at Veronika Stavrou Fetal Medicine Consultant in Nicosia. You can contact us directly to arrange an appointment. If you have been referred by your Gynaecologist, we are happy to communicate results directly with them. 

  • Appointment duration varies depending on the type of scan. A routine viability or growth scan typically takes 20–30 minutes. A detailed anatomy scan or diagnostic procedure may take longer. You will be advised of the expected duration when you book. 

  • Yes. Partners are welcome to attend all appointments at Veronika Stavrou Fetal Medicine Consultant. We encourage this, particularly for significant scans such as the anatomy assessment or when results of a diagnostic procedure are being discussed. 

  • A routine obstetric scan is typically carried out by a general sonographer or Obstetrician. A fetal medicine scan is performed by a specialist Fetal Medicine Consultant — a doctor with advanced training in fetal diagnosis and management. At Veronika Stavrou Fetal Medicine Consultant, every scan is conducted by Dr. Stavrou, a qualified Fetal Medicine Consultant, providing a higher level of specialist expertise.
